Columbia 3

Columbia 3

One of six projects acquired by Google and KKR in late 2013, Columbia 3 is sited near the town of Mojave in Southern California. Electricity generated from the project will be delivered to Southern California Edison (SCE) via a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Google and KKR previously partnered in 2011 to invest in a four project portfolio totaling 88 MW near Sacramento, CA.

Benefits

The Columbia 3 project sits on 95 acres of flat, desert land between the Alta Wind Farm, one of the largest wind farms in the U.S., and Recurrent Energy’s Rio Grande project. Columbia 3 created approximately 120 jobs during the construction phase and generates enough electricity in one year to power 2,376 average California homes.

Including Columbia 3, Recurrent Energy has four operating projects located in Kern County – Rio Grande and Rosamond 1 and 2 are also located in the county.
