Located in West Texas near Fort Stockton, the Roserock Solar Facility is one of the largest utility-scale solar plants operating in Texas. It covers roughly 1,300 acres – the equivalent of 980 football fields. The Roserock Solar Facility will deliver electricity to Austin Energy under a 20-year power purchase agreement, and generates enough solar power to meet the energy needs of approximately 30,000 homes. Southern Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is the majority owner of the facility. The facility created approximately 480 peak construction jobs. The facility layout was developed in cooperation with mineral operator Apache Corporation.
