Kansas South

Kansas South

Recurrent Energy developed and constructed the Kansas South project near the city of Lemoore, located in central California. The PV project was acquired by NRG Solar in mid-2013 and reached commercial operation in the same time frame.

Electricity generated from the project will be delivered to Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) via a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Benefits

Kansas South is located on an approximately 200 acre plot previously growing lower-value row crops. The white markings that can be seen across the site are an indication of poor soil quality, making the site ideal for solar development.

The project generates enough electricity in one year to power 4,625 average California homes and features integrated solar and commercial agriculture activities that are managed by a local sheep farmer.

Approximately 200 construction jobs were created during the building of the project, as well as additional full-time and part-time positions associated with project operation and management.
