Rio Grande

Recurrent Energy developed and constructed the Rio Grande project near the community of Mojave, located in Southern California. Electricity generated from the project will be delivered to Southern California Edison (SCE) via a 20-year power purchase agreement.

Rio Grande is part of a six project portfolio acquired by Google and KKR in November 2013. The project achieved commercial operation in the same timeframe. Google and KKR previously partnered in 2011to invest in a four project portfolio totaling 88 MW near Sacramento, CA.

Benefits

The Rio Grande project sits on 50 acres of vacant desert land located next to an old mine.

The project created approximately 90 jobs during the construction phase and generates enough electricity in one year to power 1,080 average California homes.

Including Rio Grande, Recurrent Energy has four operating projects in Kern County – Columbia 3 and Rosamond 1 and 2 are also located in the county.
