Distributed Solar Power

Recurrent Energy is an independent power producer (IPP) that is developing a fleet of distributed-scale solar projects in North America and Europe. We develop both ground- and roof-based solar power plants that are interconnected at utility substations or on a distribution network.

Our primary customers are utilities who buy power from our projects for resale. We also work with large government or commercial customers to sell power directly via a retail power purchase agreement.

Our approach harnesses proven solar technology to generate power at the distribution end of the electricity grid, close to the point where electricity is consumed. Distributed solar reduces the need for expensive “peaker” plants and new transmission lines. As a result, our projects deliver higher value to ratepayers and utilities.

The other benefit of our approach is that distributed-scale projects enjoy important permitting and interconnection advantages. This shortens development timeframes and reduces environmental risk. The result is that we can deliver the environmental and economic benefits of renewable power sooner than central-scale projects.
