El silicio, un elemento que suele encontrarse en la arena, tiene propiedades conductoras que le permiten absorber y convertir la luz solar en electricidad. Cuando la luz interacciona con una c\u00e9lula de silicio, hace que los electrones se pongan en movimiento, lo que inicia un flujo de corriente el\u00e9ctrica en un proceso conocido como \u00abefecto fotovoltaico\u00bb.  <\/p><p>Una planta de energ\u00eda solar consta de una serie de m\u00f3dulos solares conectados a equipos de transformaci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica que convierten la energ\u00eda del sol en la electricidad utilizamos en nuestras casas.
