Recurrent Energy developed and constructed two PV projects near the communities of Ajo and Bagdad, Arizona.
Recurrent Energy also arranged construction and term debt financing with Prudential Capital Group to support the projects, both of which reached commercial operation in 2011 and were sold to Duke Energy the same year.
Benefits
The Ajo and Bagdad projects are collectively sited on 145 acres of flat, vacant desert scrub land, well suited for solar development.
This land at both sites is ideal for solar production as it is a sunny, flat stretch of land near distribution lines for easy interconnection to the local electricity grid.
As the Ajo site is directly adjacent to a mine and large tailings, the project is a great use of space — otherwise vacant land with few possible uses is now generating clean energy for Arizona.
