(Houston Chronicle) Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Ontario-based Canadian Solar, said Monday it reached a power purchase agreement with a consortium of businesses for 100 percent of the capacity of its solar farm in development near Houston.
The 100-megawatt Liberty Solar Project is expected to start operating next year. Because of the project’s location in Liberty County, about 50 miles northeast of Houston, the solar farm will feed power into the Midcontinent Independent System Operator electricity grid, which serves 15 states spanning from Louisiana up through Minnesota. Operating outside of the ERCOT grid, it will serve just a small portion of Texas north of Houston.
