The 20 MWp solar project located near Newton Abbot begins commercial operations, contributing to the UK’s clean energy transition
KITCHENER, ON, November 5, 2026 — Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc. (“Canadian Solar”) (NASDAQ: CSIQ) and a leading global developer, owner, and operator of solar and energy storage assets, today announced the start of commercial operation at the Court Barton Solar Farm in South Devon.
With a capacity of 20 MWp, Court Barton Solar Farm will generate enough clean electricity to power around 8,500 homes each year and avoid more than 6,200 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, equivalent to removing approximately 1,300 cars from the road.
Dylan Marx, CEO of Recurrent Energy, said, “The UK remains a key market in the energy transition, and bringing projects like Court Barton into commercial operation demonstrates our ability to turn our development pipeline into clean energy infrastructure that delivers tangible benefits. As part of the project, we are dedicating approximately 16 acres of land specifically to enhancing skylark habitat, reflecting our commitment to responsible project development and biodiversity. We are proud to support the UK’s decarbonization ambitions while creating long-term value through positive contributions to the communities and environments where we operate.”
The project is expected to deliver more than 60% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), creating opportunities to enhance habitats and support local biodiversity. Alongside these environmental benefits, Recurrent Energy has maintained continuous engagement with local stakeholders and supported community initiatives, including litter-picking activities at nearby beaches, helping to contribute positively to the local environment.
